Dear Parents and Students: Please read the following items carefully:

PICTURES:
Picture time is here again! Photo Kicks, a professional martial arts photo company, will be here on Friday and Saturday, May 4th & 5th, to take pictures of our dojo student body. These people do a fantastic job for us every year, so we’d like to encourage everyone to choose a time slot. There is no sitting fee and no obligation to buy. Everyone who gets their picture taken will be featured on the 2007 Studio Plaque! Please visit the front desk to claim your time slot. There will be NO CLASSES on picture days.

TOURNAMENTS:
Did you catch the featured article and picture of our Ventura tournament winners in the Coast News? Impressive! Coming Up……. We are planning our annual tournament for sometime in late summer. If any of you have ideas for businesses or individuals who would like to sponsor the event and receive advertising in the program, please let Sensei Dahrla know a.s.a.p. August 3rd & 4th—Las Vegas Tournament hosted by Jody Sasaki (Ventura tournament host). This exciting event will be approximately ten times larger than the Ventura tourney. Also, Black Belt adults WILL be competing. Anyone interested, please speak with Master Mailman or Sensei Dahrla right away. A tournament of this quality will require 3 months of preparation, so we need to get started!

CHINA TRIP:
The Shaolin Temple training trip has been tentatively rescheduled for Christmas Break. This will give everyone more time to plan, save money and fundraise. Please see Sensei Dahrla if you would like to reserve a spot, or if you would like to help with the fundraising so qualified students who can’t afford the trip will be able to go.

Women's Self Defense

WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE CLASSES! Also beginning in February, we will be offering a non-belted (no rank) women’s self-defense class. This class will teach core defensive techniques against assailants wielding knives, guns, and clubs, as well as someone grabbing, holding, choking or striking you. We’ll be practicing on the heavy bag and doing some strength training also. Ladies, talk to your friends and let them know about this self-empowering class!

Session 1SD: Mon. & Fri. 9 to 10 AM…….Cost $40/mo.
Session 2SD: Saturday 4 to 5 PM………….Cost $25/mo.
Access to Both Sessions:…………………….Cost $50/mo.

SIGN UP FOR BOTH WORKOUT & SELF-DEFENSE,
SAVE $10 ON ANY COMBINATION OF SESSIONS!

Call 473-3102 for more information, or email Sensei Dahrla @kungfugoddess@aol.com

VENTURA TOURNAMENT!! Coming up on March 29th is the California Coast Martial Arts Championships in Ventura. This is the beginning of tournament season, folks, and this is the first good one! This event is open to under-belts of all ages and junior Black Belts only! Sponsored by Sasaki’s Kenpo Karate, this is a nice event run by a respectable group of people. We’d like to encourage everyone to attend! Pick up your information booklet at the front desk and see Sensei Dahrla to register. We will be registering all together as a studio.

UNITED MARTIAL ARTS’ 3RD ANNUAL CENTRAL COAST CLASSIC!!! Our own Martial Arts Championship Tournament will be held in late JUNE this year. The tentative date is Saturday, June 29th. A tournament of the size and quality that we provide is a HUGE undertaking and requires months of planning and preparation, and lots of helping hands! We couldn’t do it without the help of our parents and students! Sensei Dahrla would like to begin working on this event a.s.a.p., so if you are interested in getting involved, let us know! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

CHANGES IN POLICY FEES: GOOD NEWS! The pricing structure implemented in May of 2007 will stay the same with the exception of group discounts for 3 or more people. Those of you who went on contract BEFORE May 2007 and whose contracts will soon be expiring, please note that your renewal will be based on the May 2007 fee schedule. Included in this packet is a listing of all payment options and prices for your review.

PRIVATE LESSON CANCELLATIONS: If you or your child are scheduled for a private lesson and you cannot make it, you MUST notify us or you will be expected to pay for the time! Please understand, our time is valuable and private lesson time slots are limited. If you need to cancel, be respectful and let your Sensei’s know so that we can put someone else in your slot! Thank you!

LATE PAYMENTS: MONTH TO MONTH STUDENTS…… Your due date is based on the date you enrolled and is due on the SAME DATE every month, just like any other bill. If another regular monthly date would work better for you, talk to Sensei Dahrla and we can work out a new due date by prorating one month.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty in a certain month and need to make payment arrangements, please see Sensei Dahrla. As long as payment arrangements are made, there will be no interruption in your training and no late charge. However, not showing up to class because you are due and you haven’t bothered to make payment arrangements will not be considered either honorable or acceptable. In this situation, your class privileges will be suspended and you will be charged a $15.00 late fee. This is the same late fee our billing company charges our contract students if their payments do not go through, and so is considered to be fair and equitable.
